THE SCENE:

Boosters behind the powerful Point Loma High School Music Program hosted the second annual Marinara & Music Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser, Friday, Sept. 27 at UPSES Portuguese Hall. The evening included platefuls of the beloved Italian dish, peppered with opportunity drawings and performances by the music program’s various groups.

Each year, boosters try to raise upwards of $100,000 to sustain the program for the nearly 200 students involved. To experience the excellence of the PLHS Vanguard — which includes brass, woodwinds, battery (marching percussion), front ensemble (stationary percussion) and dance guard — check them out during halftime at every home football game and at local field tournaments. Other music groups at PLHS include concert band, wind ensemble, orchestra, jazz band, drumline, choir, and guitar. —plhsmusic.com
