An autopsy has determined that a woman pronounced dead May 4 at a motel in the Midway District was the victim of a homicide, San Diego police said.

The woman was identified as Rosa Jaco, 32, of San Diego County.

The Police Department said May 6 that the investigation was continuing and did not release the cause of death.

Police officers responded at 11:07 p.m. May 4 to a request for assistance at the motel in the 3800 block of Greenwood Street. Fire personnel had gone there on a medical aid call. As paramedics were administering CPR to the woman, other people in the area became disruptive and impeded their efforts, authorities said.

The woman could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics noticed the condition of her body was inconsistent with information they were being provided, and investigators from the San Diego police homicide unit were called to handle the investigation, authorities said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the homicide unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
