Woman injured after falling 30 feet down bluffs at Sunset Cliffs

A 23-year-old woman was injured Tuesday evening when she fell 30 feet down the bluffs at Sunset Cliffs, authorities said.
A San Diego Fire-Rescue Department helicopter hoisted the woman off the beach and flew her to a hospital, according to the agency. The extent of her injuries was not immediately known.
Lifeguards used a paddleboard to reach the fallen man
Witnesses reported the fall a few minutes after 5:30 p.m., according to the Fire-Rescue Department. Lifeguard and fire crews responded to Sunset Cliffs Boulevard and Ladera Street, though it appeared the fall happened along the bluffs in Sunset Cliffs Natural Park.
San Diego City Council member Jennifer Campbell is calling for Sunset Cliffs Natural Park — which has drawn crowds during a recent bioluminescent “red tide” — to be closed.
Lifeguards and firefighters tended to the woman until the helicopter crew hoisted her off the beach.
