Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Midway District

A 33-year-old man died after being hit by a car while walking across a street midblock in the Midway District on Sept. 23, San Diego police said.
The driver, a 54-year-old man, was in a Toyota Prius going south on Sports Arena Boulevard south of Interstate 8 at about 5 a.m. when he hit the pedestrian, who was walking west across the road, according to police.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said. His name was not released.
Police said neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash, which closed a stretch of southbound Sports Arena Boulevard until about 7:15 a.m.
