Homicide detectives investigate after man found injured in Midway District dies

San Diego homicide detectives are investigating after a 31-year-old man found injured and unconscious in a Midway District parking lot died at a hospital the night of Sept. 24, the Police Department said.
Police received a call just after 10 p.m. reporting that the man had been found in a lot in the 3700 block of Rosecrans Street. Officers were directed to the man, who was unconscious with “trauma to his torso,” police said in a statement. The officers provided first aid and began lifesaving efforts until relieved by San Diego Fire-Rescue Department personnel.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries at 10:38 p.m., according to police. His identity was not released. Police said he frequented the Midway area.
A male was seen running from the area, but no suspect description is available, police said.
