Homicide suspect arrested after man found injured and unconscious in Midway District dies, police say

A man has been arrested on suspicion of homicide after another man who was found injured and unconscious in a Midway District parking lot died at a hospital last week, the San Diego Police Department said Sept. 28.
Zarchari Mock, 29, was arrested Sept. 25 and booked into San Diego County Jail, police said. Jail records showed Mock remained in custody without bail Sept. 28 on suspicion of murder and two counts of failing to register as a sex offender.
San Diego homicide detectives began investigating after a 31-year-old man was found in a parking lot in the 3700 block of Rosecrans Street with “trauma to his torso” shortly after 10 p.m. Sept. 24, the Police Department said. Officers provided first aid and began lifesaving efforts until relieved by San Diego Fire-Rescue Department personnel.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries at 10:38 p.m., according to police. He has been identified, police said, but his name has not been released pending notification of family. Police said he frequented the Midway area.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the homicide unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
