Drive-through Gingerbread City showcases creative confections while supporting Epilepsy Foundation

Share

The Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County presented the 27th annual Gingerbread City, billed as San Diego’s largest competition for gingerbread structures, as a public drive-through due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Guests in 350 vehicles attended Dec. 12 in a parking lot at Liberty Station, contributing to the more than $180,000 the event raised for the Epilepsy Foundation through ticket sales, sponsorships and an online silent auction.

Gingerbread City included more than 20 gingerbread houses, villages and storybook scenes with the theme “Holidays Around the World.” It also featured entertainment, drive-up concessions and the Grinch.

The auction gave guests the chance to bid on their favorite gingerbread houses along with items such as wine and spirits, jewelry, fashion, sports memorabilia and travel packages.
