A man who was attacked stabbed his assailant during an altercation in Ocean Beach late Jan. 30, and a woman who tried to break up the fight also was stabbed, police said.

It began as an argument between two men on Bacon Street near Newport Avenue at about 11:20 p.m. During the altercation, they attacked a 25-year-old man, who stabbed one of his assailants, police said. Police did not say why the victim was attacked.

When the woman — who was with the victim — tried to break up the fight, she also was stabbed, according to police. She was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

The two assailants drove off in a car. A short time later, police contacted a man with a stab wound in the area of Logan Avenue and Beardsley Street in Barrio Logan, Officer Robert Heims said. Officers determined that the man had been stabbed during the altercation on Bacon Street.

Paramedics took the man to a hospital in stable condition.

Police urged anyone with information about the stabbings to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
