Enter The Monsaraz, Point Loma’s first new hotel in over a decade
Point Loma’s first new hotel in more than a decade is now open at 1451 Rosecrans St.
The Monsaraz San Diego, part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, is a boutique hotel featuring 92 guest rooms, including three suites, midcentury modern furniture, art-lined hallways and views of the Point Loma hills, San Diego Bay and the downtown skyline.
It shares its name with a medieval village in Portugal — a nod to Point Loma’s Portuguese roots.
“We hope The Monsaraz leaves a welcoming legacy for Point Loma and San Diego ... that brings together travelers from around the world and all walks of life in shared experience,” Cameron Lamming, founder of developer Lamming Co., said in a statement.
Guests and locals can gather in common spaces including the hotel’s centerpiece 4,000-square-foot, open-air courtyard highlighted by a living plant wall and a custom mural by San Diego artist Janie Rochfort.
The Monsaraz also is home to Westerly Public House, a 60-seat restaurant showcasing coastal cuisine inspired by Australian and Southern California beach culture. Signature dishes include Mushroom Toasties, fish and chips and peri peri chicken.
