Police identify man fatally shot at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

San Diego police released the name of a 33-year-old man killed in a weekend shooting at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park.
Patrol officers found Akali Cobbs of San Diego wounded after they responded to multiple reports of gunfire and a person yelling for help shortly before 11:30 p.m. June 27 in the parking lot of the park off Ladera Street, acting homicide Lt. Joel Tien said in a statement.
Cobbs suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene, Tien said.
Police did not identify any suspects, and the motive for the slaying remained unclear.
“It is still early in the investigation and little is known about the circumstances leading to the [victim’s] death,” Tien said. “Detectives are collecting evidence and attempting to locate witnesses.”
