A skateboarder was taken to a hospital with injuries considered life-threatening after a collision with a vehicle on Nimitz Boulevard in Ocean Beach on Oct. 5, San Diego police said.

The 27-year-old man was hit by a car, prompting the temporary closure of Nimitz between West Point Loma and Sunset Cliffs boulevards around 7:45 a.m., police said.

A 63-year-old man reportedly was driving south on Nimitz, approaching a green light at West Point Loma Boulevard. Police said the skateboarder was heading north on Nimitz when he entered the intersection and turned west against a red light in front of the driver and was struck.

The skateboarder was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, according to police. No other information was released.
