Skateboarder hit by car in Ocean Beach dies in hospital

John Patrick Robinson, 27, was riding a skateboard in the intersection of Nimitz Boulevard and West Point Loma Boulevard, authorities said.
A 27-year-old skateboarder who was hit by a car and badly hurt in an Ocean Beach intersection Oct. 5 died four days later, according to the San Diego County medical examiner’s office.
John Patrick Robinson was riding north on Nimitz Boulevard when he turned left onto West Point Loma Boulevard against a red light just before 6 a.m., according to San Diego police and the medical examiner’s office.
A skateboarder was taken to a hospital with injuries considered life-threatening after a collision with a vehicle on Nimitz Boulevard in Ocean Beach on Oct. 5, San Diego police said.
Police said the skateboarder turned in front of a 63-year-old motorist who was headed south on Nimitz. The man’s car struck Robinson.
Video recorded by OnScene.TV showed a sedan with a shattered windshield on the driver’s side.
Robinson was taken to a hospital with injuries police described as life-threatening. His condition declined and he died Oct. 9, the medical examiner’s office said.
