The Local Scene: Cabrillo National Monument — from tide pools to panoramas
Plenty of people found a visit to Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma a great way to spend a beautiful February day.
About 350,000 people a year visit the park’s tide pools — rocky areas where pools of water are left behind at low tide and many types of small sea creatures can be seen.
According to the park, the best time to visit the tide pools is the fall and winter, when the best low tides occur during park hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, though the tide pools close at 4:30 p.m.).
