An Uber driver was shot in a leg after arguing with a would-be passenger in the Midway District on Feb. 22, San Diego police said. A suspect was arrested.

Someone called police at about 2 p.m. to report the shooting at or near a strip mall on Midway Drive just west of Rosecrans Street, Officer Sarah Foster said.

She said the shooting victim was a ride-share driver who had gone to the location to pick up a rider. The two got into an argument, she said, but she did not know what they argued about.

The would-be passenger pulled out a gun and shot the driver, then ran off, heading through a nearby parking lot, Foster said.

Officers found and arrested a suspect in the shooting.

The driver was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.

No further information was available.
