Woman, 61, is struck and killed while trying to ‘scoot’ across Midway District road, police say

A 61-year-old woman who was seen trying to “scoot” across a road in the Midway District was struck and killed by a car, San Diego police said.
A witness told police that the woman was crossing Rosecrans Street near Hancock Street in a sitting position when she was hit around 10 p.m. March 20, Officer Sarah Foster said.
The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old man, stopped and cooperated with investigators, Foster said. The man told officers that he did not see the woman when he drove over her.
The woman died before she could be taken to a hospital. Her name was not immediately released.
