A 27-year-old man was shot and wounded April 14 in the Midway District, San Diego police said.

The shooting happened shortly before 5 p.m. on Sports Arena Boulevard near Kemper Street, where the man and the shooter were involved in some type of argument, Officer Robert Heims said in a news release.

During the argument, the victim ran away and the gunman fired several shots, striking him once in the chest, Heims said. The victim continued running and crossed a street, where officers made contact with him.

Paramedics later took him to a hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening gunshot wound, Heims said.

The gunman was seen getting into the passenger side of a silver Nissan Sentra sedan whose driver headed east on Sports Arena Boulevard, Heims said. A description of the shooter was not provided.
