Authorities are investigating after a body washed up in Ocean Beach on April 22.

Someone notified San Diego lifeguards about the body at about 10:30 a.m. after it had washed ashore on Dog Beach in front of Tower 5, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The San Diego County medical examiner’s office was notified.

No further information about the body was immediately available, including the person’s gender and approximate age.

It was unclear whether the discovery has any connection to an April 10 incident in which a possible smuggling boat overturned off Ocean Beach. Three men were rescued and one was found dead.

The next day, beach-goers saw a second body along the surf line off Dog Beach. Authorities said they suspected the death may have been related to the smuggling attempt.
