Body is found wedged in rocks at Sunset Cliffs

The decomposed body of a male was discovered off Sunset Cliffs Boulevard near Adair Street.
San Diego lifeguards recovered a body found on the rocks at Sunset Cliffs the morning of July 13, officials said.
Someone called 911 shortly after 5:35 a.m. to report seeing a body in the water off Sunset Cliffs Boulevard near Adair Street, police said.
The caller was a fisherman who had been looking for bait when he found the body, police Capt. Laura McLean told reporters.
“All we know is that it is a male,” McLean said of the body. “We are unable to determine race or anything at this point because it is decomposed.”
Last month, an 18-year-old was swept out to sea while swimming with friends at Mission Beach. Despite intense searches, his body has not been found.
“We are not going to speculate at this point if it is the young man that was missing from Mission Beach,” McLean said.
She said authorities suspect the high tide washed the body ashore late July 12 and it wedged into the rocks before the water receded with low tide hours later.
Footage from OnScene.TV shows lifeguards hoisting the body from the rocks and loading it into a van. The San Diego County medical examiner’s office will work to identify the person.
