A pedestrian and his dog were hurt Aug. 25 when a vehicle struck them on a Point Loma Heights street.

The 2020 Jeep SUV hit the 56-year-old man at about 6:45 a.m. as he was walking in the middle of the 3700 block of Poe Street while trying to round up his off-leash dog, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Paramedics took the man to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were considered serious but not life-threatening, Officer David O'Brien said.

The dog was taken to a veterinary office in unknown condition, according to police.
