Photo gallery: Point Loma Association’s ‘Color the Night’ dinner raises $150,000
After a hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Point Loma Association’s annual dinner and auction was back in person Oct. 24 at the Kona Kai Resort & Spa on Shelter Island.
More than 260 guests attended, helping to raise nearly $150,000 in gross revenue through sponsorships, donations and live and silent auctions. The funds support the association’s efforts to beautify and advocate for the Point Loma area.
This year’s theme was “Color the Night: All Wrapped up in Art” in recognition of the PLA’s ongoing art activities. Guests were encouraged to wear costumes, and many came as their favorite artist, artwork or color.
The Community Champion Award went to the late Dave Martin, a former PLA board member, Ocean Beach Town Council president and owner of Shades Oceanfront Bistro.
The Lighthouse Award was presented to the more than century-old Point Loma Assembly, along with a certificate of recognition from the office of San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria. The Point Loma Assembly works to promote literary, social, educational, philanthropic, civic and artistic work and to restore and maintain its historic building on Talbot Street.
