A 36-year-old woman was arrested early Nov. 27 in the Midway District on suspicion of driving under the influence after the car she was driving rear-ended a parked vehicle, where a man sleeping in its backseat suffered a severely broken leg, San Diego police said.

Investigators determined alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to police Officer Sarah Foster.

The crash occurred at about 1:55 a.m. when a speeding 2006 Dodge Magnum hit the parked car in the 2700 block of Kurtz Street, according to the Police Department.

The 32-year-old man suffered an open fracture to his right leg and was taken to a hospital, police said.

The woman police said was driving the Magnum was found a short distance from the crash site and was taken into custody, authorities reported.
