A motorcyclist died after going off Interstate 8 in Ocean Beach at high speed early Dec. 19 and crashing into a raised barrier, San Diego police said.

The rider, believed to be 25 to 30 years old, was on a 2003 Ducati motorcycle westbound on I-8 shortly after 12:30 a.m. when he didn’t stop or slow down at the Sunset Cliffs Boulevard exit and hit the barrier, police said.

No other vehicles were involved.

The man died before he could be taken to a hospital.

Police said it isn’t clear whether alcohol was a factor. The crash is being investigated.
