Three people hospitalized after rollover crash near Midway District

Three people were hospitalized after being pulled from the wreckage of a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 5 near the Midway District, fire officials said.
San Diego fire crews responded around 11 p.m. Dec. 27 to the crash on the northbound I-5 south of Interstate 8. A vehicle went off the road and overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Three people were freed from the vehicle by firefighters, said Monica Muñoz, spokeswoman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Two were taken to UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest and one went to Mercy Hospital San Diego, Muñoz said.
Authorities did not release any additional information about the people who were injured.
“One of the three occupants of the vehicle sustained a major injury,” said CHP dispatcher Danielle McComb.
The extent of the injuries to the two other people was unclear.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
