San Diego police were called at 6:28 p.m. March 3 to the 1800 block of Catalina Boulevard, where they learned the boy was riding south on Catalina with a green light, waiting to turn east onto Narragansett Avenue, when a vehicle heading south struck him from behind, Officer Robert Heims said.

The vehicle did not stop and continued south on Catalina, Heims said.
