Woman, 79, is hit by vehicle in Midway District and rushed to hospital

A 79-year-old woman suffered serious injuries when hit by a vehicle in the Midway District the night of May 14, the San Diego Police Department said.
The woman was walking on the road near the 3500 block of Midway Drive at about 9:30 p.m. when a 2019 Dodge driven by a 58-year-old man struck her, according to the SDPD.
The driver’s attention was drawn to a restaurant sign, and when he directed his eyes back to the road, he slammed on the brakes and veered left but still struck the woman, police said.
The woman hit the vehicle’s windshield and was rushed to a hospital for treatment of a pelvic fracture and a head laceration, according to the SDPD.
The driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said. An investigation is continuing.
