Motorcyclist is killed in Point Loma crash

A motorcyclist died Sept. 9 after riding off a Point Loma road, hitting a curb and getting thrown to the ground, San Diego police said.
The crash happened about 6 a.m. at Chatsworth Boulevard and Clove Street as the man, in his mid-20s, was riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson westbound on Chatsworth.
“As he neared the intersection of Clove Street, he failed to negotiate the curb line of Chatsworth Boulevard,” police Officer Robert Heims said. “The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries.”
The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash. The rider was wearing a helmet, Heims said.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known. It was not yet clear whether alcohol or drugs played a role, Heims said.
The Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating.
